Our Impact

FUPAROCA and Sustainable Development

At FUPAROCA, we drive positive change in cocoa-growing communities through our Socio-Environmental Management Plan, which guides our actions in four strategic areas: Farm Management, Natural Resources and Environment, People and Communities, and Quality Control and Certifications.

Farm Management: Cultivating Excellence in Cocoa

We work to strengthen the productivity and sustainability of our members’ farms through:

  • Training in good agricultural practices (GAP): Through Field Schools (FFS), we teach modern and sustainable techniques to improve the quality and profitability of crops.
  • Access to inputs and tools: We provide high-quality grafted cacao plants to ensure more productive and resilient crops.
  • Farm renovation and rehabilitation: We assist in renewing aged or deteriorated plantations, improving their productivity and health in the long term.
  • Administrative empowerment: We offer training in administrative management to help producers optimize their operations and become more autonomous.

People and Communities: Growing Together

The well-being of people is a priority for FUPAROCA. Therefore, we invest in:

  • Training in good social practices (BPS): We promote fair and safe working conditions for our producers and collaborators.
  • Child development: We support programs that promote education, nutrition, and well-being for children in cocoa-growing communities.
  • Technical and degree scholarships: We offer educational opportunities for youth and adults, fostering professional and personal growth.
  • Social investment: We support community projects that improve local quality of life.
  • Job creation: We create and strengthen sustainable sources of employment in the areas where we operate.

Quality Control and Certifications: Ensuring Excellence

Our vision includes a commitment to quality, traceability, and compliance with international standards:

  • Technical assistance: We provide continuous support to producers to improve their processes and outcomes.
  • Cocoa management and traceability: We implement systems that guarantee the quality of cocoa from the farm to the market.
  • Compliance and auditing: We supervise and verify that our operations meet the required environmental, social, and quality standards.
  • Strategic partnerships and special projects: We collaborate with global partners to develop initiatives that benefit our producers and the environment.

Natural Resources and Environment: Conserving for the Future

We focus on the responsible management of the environment, promoting sustainable practices:

  • Waste management: We implement the 3Rs project (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to minimize environmental impact.
  • Training in Good Environmental Practices (BPAM), High Conservation Value (HCV), and High Carbon Stock (HCS): We train producers in environmental best practices and the conservation of High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas.
  • Agricultural diversification: We promote agroforestry systems with crops complementary to cocoa to protect biodiversity and improve farm economics.
  • Reforestation: We participate in tree planting initiatives to restore ecosystems and mitigate climate change.
